Range Access News

The mission of the Prairie Central Sportsman’s Club is to provide a safe, convenient shooting facility for members and their family to use at their convenience. We have recently had issues with unauthorized use of the trap field and a large number of clay targets used and not paid for. Consequently, it has been necessary to restrict access to the trap house. We are in the process of obtaining an access control system for the trap field to remedy the situation and provide unrestricted access to members. We expect to have the new system in place in a few weeks.

In the meantime, members wishing to use the trap field any time outside of scheduled events will need to arrange for a key to the trap house. We apologize for the inconvenience and will have the new access system in place as soon as possible. To check out a key to the trap house contact one of the following:

  • Ron Schramm (815) 822-2223
  • Dick Hitchens (815) 674-0069
  • Tal Parmenter (309) 825-8679
  • Art Cabello (815) 822-4407

Remember, when you use any of the range facilities, whether rifle, pistol, archery or trap, make sure to sign in and out on the sheet in the club house and secure all locks when you leave.

Message from the Trap Committee….

Dear Prairie Sportsmen’s Club Member,

The trap committee is planning for our second season of activities beginning in April.  It seems like yesterday when we were pouring concrete, digging in the mud, spreading gravel, and putting lights up.  We are anxious to get started with our exciting trap activities.  Beginning Tuesday, April 7, 2015, we will host a weekly Tuesday night trapshoot consisting of a 50 bird derby and 2 man protection shoots.  This activity will begin with sign in at 5:30PM and shooting starting at about 6:00PM. This activity is intended for all shooters…local, area, beginner, novice, and experienced shooters.

We will also host a 3 man protection with an accumulating pot on the second Sunday of each month. Sign in at 12:30 with shooting to begin at 1:00PM sharp.

The public is invited to all trapshooting events.

The trap committee cannot conduct these events alone!  There is a lot to do each week – everything from unlocking the gate, to stocking the trap house, to marking the x’s and o’s on the score sheets. We NEED your help.  Please come to one of our Tuesday night shoots and, when you aren’t shooting, take a turn scoring, or pulling, or loading, or….. Help us continue to put on a great trapshooting program each week.  We will really appreciate your help & you will have a great time!

Thanks from the Trap Committee
